Associated Builders and Contractors has named the winners of the 2021 National Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Excellence Awards, an annual recognition of ABC members that display exemplary IDE leadership in their company, workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices and training and mentoring programs. The winners were honored at the 32nd annual Excellence in Construction® Awards at ABC Convention 2022 in San Antonio on March 16.

“At ABC, we understand the value inclusion, diversity and equity brings to an organization and we are pleased to recognize organizations that are prioritizing this critical component to any thriving company culture,” said 2022 National Chair of the ABC Board of Directors Stephanie Schmidt, president, Poole Anderson Construction, State College, Pennsylvania. “We applaud these construction industry and business community leaders for their unparalleled commitment to creating an inclusive workplace that is committed to celebrating diverse ideas and perspectives and putting the best talent on the field.”

Award winners were selected by a panel of diverse industry partner associations that share ABC’s commitment to grow and deliver value to a diverse, inclusive and equitable workforce. ABC’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee—formed to better reach underrepresented communities within the constructions sector—provides leadership and direction to chapters and member companies to promote inclusion, diversity and equity as an empowering competitive advantage through education, awareness and business practices.

A panel of construction professionals reviewed submission responses and selected four winning companies who excelled at advancing inclusion, diversity and equity in their workplace.

United Rentals Inc., the world’s largest equipment rental company, is ABC’s IDE program sponsor and supports ABC’s IDE initiatives, including the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Summit and National Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Excellence Awards.
